Design Challenge: Add side cabinets to an existing bungalow fireplace - and make them special.

 

Solution: Designing the cabinets to look as though they’d always been a part of the fireplace was the easy part. The story of how we made them special goes like this . . .

 

The homeowner inherited a bracelet which, for a variety of reasons, she never wore. She occasionally saw it in its drawer and wished there was a way to put it to higher use. We collaborated on an idea to turn the bracelet’s links into door pulls for her new fireplace cabinets. A local metal artist came on board and the result was a set of unique cabinet knobs, each with a different semi-precious stone, that she can see and appreciate every day.
